2012 tea towel calendars Designs

Spoonflower Design Challenge: November 16, 2011

The tea towel calendar contest this year did not disappoint... not only are the top ten designs stunning, but so are the entries that didn't win! Amy Peppler Adams (PennyCandy) -- whose 2012 Tea Towel Calender won the contest -- is a Seattle-based artist with lots of fun, typographical fabric designs. This is her first contest win, so congratulations, Amy! We recommend linen-cotton canvas for tea towels, by the way. Steampunk valentine

We’re teaming up with Urban Threads to present our Steampunk Valentine Design Challenge! Create a fabric design from which a lovely Steampunk Valentine’s themed embroidery pattern can be adapted by Urban Threads. We’re not designing embroidery patterns to be stitched in this contest, but patterns with a Steampunk Valentine theme that can be adapted to have accompanying embroidery elements. See full details on the blog and the Designing for Embroidery Style Guide for more details. Deadline for entry is Tuesday, February 3, 2015. Voting will open Thursday, February 5, 2015.

Ditsy sheep

To celebrate the Year of the Sheep and the Chinese New Year, this week's contest challenge is to design sheep fabrics using a ditsy style, or scattered, small-scale, non-directional repeat. Previews will be shown at the scale of a swatch (8" x 8"). Entries close on Tuesday, February 10th, 2015.

Mythical creature plushie pattern

Create a cut-&-sew pattern to make a plush mythical creature toy. The sewing pattern, with instructions, should fit on a fat quarter of linen-cotton canvas (27" x 18"). Contest will close for entries on February 17, 2015. Voting opens Thursday, February 19th.

Cubist cats

Celebrate our feline friends with cubist-style cat designs! Create a true work of modern art with your Cubist Cat-themed design. Entries will be previewed at the fat quarter size (21" x 18"). Deadline for entry is Tuesday, February 24th. Voting will open on Thursday, February 26th.

Coral, mint, black and white

We just love coral, mint, black, and white all together in designs! This week's challenge calls for you to create a design using all four colors in this restricted palette, (visible on the blog here: http://blog.spoonflower.com/upcoming-spoonflower-contests.html), no less, no more. Previews will be shown at the fat quarter size (21" x 18"). Deadline for entry is Tuesday, March 3rd, 2015. Voting opens Thursday, March 5th.

Instructions and rules for our weekly fabric design contests appear on our upcoming contests page .
