All designs by Deborah Astley
I'm in love with color and textures.. Many of my designs are created from my collection of handmade papers and tissue papers. Other designs are inspired by personal memories, nature or a Spoonflower design challenge. Thanks so much for stopping by.
Description:
This collection is built around the beautiful flower, the hollyhock. Native to Asia and Central Europe, hollyhocks are part of the mallow family as are cotton, okra, and the hibiscus. The name "hollyhock" is thought to be derived from the Anglo-Saxon word for "mallow" which is hoc. "Holly" is derived from the word, holy, because it is thought that hollyhocks were introduced to Britain by the Crusaders. (Information gathered from BoiseWeekly.com) I like them because one can make little dolls from the blossoms.
